TGD's first gig at Shuckers in Onancock, VA was awesome. What a great room to play in and what a super crowd to play to. The sound man had the PA dialed in just perfectly and DJ Randy kept the crowd pumped in between sets with his dance tunes. What a great time. Several people said we were just what Shuckers needed. Well we say Shuckers is just what we need. The hot wings were sublime and the wait and bar staff were top notch. We will back there on 08.15.09 to blow the top off again. Thanks to all the fans for taking pictures of us and hanging out. We can't wait to come back. |

TGD Opened for the very lovely Leann Rimes. There were between 13-15000 screaming fans. What a great honor to share the stage with such a talented performer. Thank you so much to each and every Tailgater out there that showed up to support TGD.

TGD regrets to inform ya'll that the Chesapeake Jubilee show has been cancelled today. The rain was just too bad and would have destroyed everyone's equipment. Believe me....we tried to figure out a way to play, because we had one heck of a show with some great surprises in store for you. Mother Nature just wasn't having it. Maybe next time. Aaron and Mitch will be performing their comedy relief acoustic act up at Red Bones from 5-11 though. I think they'll have some guests with them too, so the day's not a complete wash. Come out for some great fun, great music, and all the beverages you can handle. |

Well the trip to Overtimes was fun. I'm gonna take a few minutes here and tell you just how fortunate TGD is. It seems misfortune finds us but somehow we laugh at it as a collective group and overcome it and then have a funny story to tell. We started out on the way to Overtimes in Manquin, VA and before we hit the tunnel we had a flat on ole Bertha the bus. I really shouldn't say a flat because it never went flat. It did blow the treads off of one tire and sounded like a Blue Angels fighter jet breaking the sound barrier. Lets just say most of us needed a change of undergarments.
So here we are on I-664 with Bertha pulled to the side of the road and traffic wizzing by. We decided to continue our journey and pull off at the next exit and try and find a tire changing place. I bet not 300 yards from the blowout as soon as we got off the exit was a tire changing place. But not just a tire changing place....a very busy one. I bet they had about 15 cars ahead of us. And we talked to Robert Bennet (a manager there at Blanchard's Tire and Auto Center) and told him our plight and the fact that we had to get to Overtimes for a gig and was running behind. Good ole Robert aka "Bugs" not only moved us to the front of the line, but even came out and changed it himself. What a great group of guys there at Blanchard's. Anywho..... what could have proved to be a disasterous situation on the interstate gave us the opportunity to realize just how fortunate Tailgate Down is to be surrounded by good people that are always willing to help us out. I could go on but we just wanted to give a shout out of Thanks to God above and of course to Robert and the entire Blanchard's Team. "Thank You".

Here's the Blanchard Team Fixin Ole Bertha
Well we made it safely to Overtimes, rocked the house, and made it home without incident. The trip home was made even sweeter because our dearest fan "Denise" made us desert for the road home. I swear one of us is gonna have to marry that woman. Thanks Denise it was awesome. Anyways, just take the time once in a while to say thanks to those around you and be thankful for all the good in your lives. We'll see ya'll soon. |
05.14.09
Next up is the Shrimpfest at the the Chesapeake Jubilee. Come have some "scrimps" and hear some great music. The Heather Edwards band will be there too. You won't want to miss that!!! |
05.10.09
The Hampton Summer Street Fest was awesome. We set up early and had no issues at all during sound check or performance. No mice in the amps or anything. It was packed. You could see people for about as far as you could see. We only got to play two full sets because the rain and wind came in and shut us down. The production company didn't want to ruin their expensive sound gear and neither did we. We wanted to play more but the rain wouldn't allow it. What a great crowd though. I think we made a few more fans. At least a few emailed me and told us what a great time they had and wanted to be added to the email list. |
05.02.09
The NASCAR Race was an awesome time. The first day everyone thought it would rain so we played inside. Guess what? It didn't rain. We got to meet Kenny Wallace and Scott Wimmer. For Saturday everyone thought it wouldn't rain so we played outside. And guess what? It rained on and off for about two hours. We would play a song or two and it would rain. Then a driver would talk and it would rain some more. We kept debating on moving inside but kept the gear dry. Then the sky opened up and we had some pretty decent weather. We had a blast. We got to meet Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, and Joey Logano. What a great group of guys. The rain held off for the race, and it was a good one. We will be back at NASCAR in Richmond for the September race. Get your tickets now and we'll see ya there. I will post some of the pictures from the race, as soon as I get them from the photographer. |

Well the Isle of Wight Pig Fest was a mega success. It was hotter than hot that day. All in all it was a great showing. A few people fainted from the heat and people were line dancing in the 100 degree weather, but we had a great time. Thank you to the fans that hung in there and had some great barbecue.
04.18.2009
Well Country Fans....The Bikers for Tykes and Troops show was a smashing success. Man what a great time we had. We promise to have the photos of the show up soon. If you missed it we had a ball!!! Aaron was singing on top of the Eagle 97.3 Bus and getting back rides from some fans. At one point he was on top of the Sherriff's golf cart singing and doing some other stuff which we won't put on here for legal reasons, but if you really want to know shoot us an email and we'll tell ya, but man you missed an awesome time. People said they stuck around just to see what was gonna happen next! Hey you never know what to expect at a TGD show.
Grant Austin Taylor put on a heck of a show and Tuesday's Gone Rocked the campground!!! Great job guys! Hopefully Geico and the Bikers for Tykes and Troops will have us all back next year. There were some awesome bikes and bikers alike just having some good ole country fun. It was all for a good cause and Fans we just wanted to say thanks for coming out and supporting the home team. It was awesome being back in my home town of Virginia Beach!!! Make sure you come have some good pig with us at the Isle of Wight show next week. |

Well folks, the trip to Overtime Sports Bar started out great. Everyone was on time, all the stuff fit in the van. We didn't drive Bertha the Bus because she's in the shop getting the final graphics put on her by Action Graphics, so we rented a van. No problems so far. Then about 20 miles outside of Newport News we hit some fierce traffic. Who knows what caused it but we sat in traffic for about an hour and a half. We laughed the whole way there anyways. What's so cool about TGD is that we always find the humor in everything no matter how crappy a situation can be. Well anyways we got to Overtime right on time and set up and had an awesome sound check and then a mouse or something got ahold of our crossover amp thingy and caused us to lose the low end of the PA. This probably don't mean much to most of ya'll but Aaron would've sounded like Mickey Mouse on Helium had it not been for the quick thinking of Mitch and Jay. Great save guys! Anywho TGD rocked it out to a packed house once again. There were no incidents this time. No fans falling off the bar this time. If you guys missed it then you missed some awesome country music and some other pretty things that we must leave out in order to be politically correct, yet I digress..... Ah Tappahanock...but seriously folks never fear we will be back to Overtime soon!!! Thanks everybody for the support and for making that one of the best and most memorable events of the season. If that's any indication of how the summer's gonna go then we are excited. Oh I almost forgot....Dennis would like to thank Denise (Uber Fan) for the cake and the Apple Buddah. Again you ROCK!!! Well that's it for now folks. Peace, Love, and 4 part Harmony to you all...... |
04.03.2009
TGD Rocked out Lazy Horse. What an awesome crowd. Apparently not all the ladies got the memo to bring dollar bills OR Aaron didn't dance hard enough. He only managed to raise $2.20 by his famous "Dancin' on the Bar" routine. Apparently someone threw two dimes at him and they stuck to his forhead. He looked like the red guy from HellBoy...whose name is ironically Hell Boy. Ok good one....TGD was joined on stage by Mark Cox from WCTV-48 for an encore performance of the television debut. Mark did an awesome job on Copper-Head road. Thanks goes out to Mark and his lovely wife for supporting us. We had some (what we will call Uber Fans) join us from the Tappahanock area. Thanks again guys for showing up. |
04.01.2009
Dennis' Birthday Extravaganza was a hoot. We had a great time just hanging out and listening to Mitch and Aaron play some acoustic stuff at Busky's Bar and Grill. Dennis said he laughed so hard his stomach hurt. |

TGD rocked out the Greening of Ghent despite the wind and freezing rain. They proved once again their professionalizm and entertainment quality in the face of adversity. If you missed it we understand, but for those of you that braved the elements and line danced in the rain in the middle of Ghent we salute you and want to say "Thank You" for hanging in there with us. The after party went into the wee hours of the night. TGD pulled up in the bus at Lazy Horse and helped Parallel Minds of Chesapeake celebrate Buddy Husky's Birthday. "Happy Birthday Buddy" You Guys Rocked!!. After that, TGD took the tour bus over to Red Bones and caught the last set of Knowing Abbot of Virginia Beach. The band asked Dennis to sit in and play a few songs and you could tell he was having a ball. He would like to thank Knowing Abbot for all the years of support. You guys still rock. |

TGD recorded live on Chesapeake's WCTV-48 Show "Thinking Out Loud". We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Cox, Rae Pearson and the entire staff for the opportunity to get original local country music across the airwaves. The staff is highly professional and treated TGD like royalty. This will forever be one of our fondest memories......THANK YOU! |

TGD Announces change to the line up.
TGD just added Virginia Beach's very own Dennis Turner as the new bass player for TGD. We look forward to working with him as there are exciting new opportunities just aroung the corner.
The band would like to take this opportunity to wish Matt Vennard the very best as he continues to further his career. You are a true professional and you will be greatly missed. Thank you for the years of awesome music and helping to grow the band to what it is today. |
